An Offsite Approach from the Timber Industry at Ecobuild

The Confederation of Timber Industries together with Wood for Good will be exhibiting at Ecobuild, 7-9 March 2017, showcasing the natural advantages of working with wood.

Timber is the natural choice for a variety of offsite solutions. Experts from the Structural Timber Association, British Woodworking Federation, Timber Trade Federation, TRADA and Wood for Good will be on hand to answer your queries about this rapidly growing section of the construction market.

As well as having experts on hand throughout the exhibition, two exciting projects will be launched on Tuesday 7th March 2017 at the joint CTI/Wood for Good stand E109

The first event – scheduled at 2pm - will see the British Woodworking Federation (BWF) launching the first Life Cycle Assessments through the new BRE LINA tool. Experts from the BWF and BRE will discuss the benefits of the new tool in order to produce bespoke life cycle assessments for wood manufacturers.
Using this new LCA tool, manufacturers will be able to produce their own verified data, allowing specifiers to make the right environmental choice.

At 4 pm, the CTI stand will also host the launch of the new guide on the ‘Robustness of CLT Structures’. Produced by the Structural Timber Association (STA) to address market needs for technical recommendations, the CLT guidance is the accumulation of more than 12 months of industry reviews and workshops.

Endorsed by Premier Guarantee and LABC Warranty, the publication provides key principles of robust design, connection detailing and installation of cross laminated timber buildings.

Finally, Ecobuild visitors will have the opportunity to collect free information sheets and publications from TRADA info point, located adjacent to CTI stand.

TRADA will also provide an ‘Ask an expert’ facility - including 2 technical consultants - for the whole duration of the show - to answer questions on any timber-related matter.

Andrew Carpenter, STA Chief Executive and Member of CTI Board of Directors, commented: “These are exciting times for timber, a modern material with natural advantages that can lead to a real revolution in construction.
Thanks to a modern and collaborative approach involving all major trade bodies in the UK Timber Industry, we can now promote our ‘oven-ready’ solutions to support offsite and sustainable construction. The 21st Century is emerging as the Timber Age and we will work hard to push this message forward.”
