SIPS – Structurally Insulated Panels

SIPS panels are increasingly in popular in the UK as we adopt building systems from North America, Holland and Scandinavia.

In its simplest form the panel is a sandwich of OSB3 (oriented strand board) and an insulating material.

SIPS panels offer a variety of benefits such as lightweight construction, fast build time and excellent thermal properties for the wall.

SIPS panels have been used in the design of zero-carbon (Code Level 6) homes at the BRE Innovation Park at Garston, Watford.

Examples and more case studies of the use of SIPS panels can be seen at www.tek.kingspan.com
