Glulam a glulam structure

Benefits

Glulam’s good tensile characteristics make it especially suitable for long span, load-bearing widths, like bridges.

It is an exceptionally strong material, used for load-bearing structures where visual appearance is important, which can be shaped, helping to form spacious buildings.

Glulam is an environmentally friendly, low energy product.

Specification

Glulam is made from layers of parallel timber laminates (normally spruce or pine) glued together under high pressure using weather resistant glue that can be specfied as either dark or light.

Fire safety is excellent; slow to char, the uncharred section of the beam retains its strength.

It is available in standard widths from 90mm - 240mm, with special widths of 265mm and 290mm.

Lengths of up to 2050mm are standard, with a maximum of up to 31000mm available to special order.
